Training

Recall, for people who tried once and gave up.

The mistake most people make is asking the dog to come when there's an actual reason for them not to. That's called poisoning the cue, and once you do it enough times, the dog stops responding at all.

Instead: for the first two weeks, only use the recall word when you already know the dog will come. Full stop.

The reward has to be something they don't get any other way. Not kibble. Not petting. A tiny piece of grilled chicken, or a favorite squeaky toy that lives on top of the fridge the rest of the time.
